•The shoulder seasons (April-May and September-October) offer the best balance of pleasant weather, manageable crowds, and reasonable prices.
•July and August are intensely hot and best avoided for extensive sightseeing unless you are accustomed to extreme heat. Many locals also leave the city during this period.
•Orthodox Easter, which can fall in April or May, is a major cultural event but also means higher prices and very large crowds, especially in popular tourist areas and islands.
•While major archaeological sites like the Acropolis have consistent opening hours, smaller museums or private businesses might observe altered schedules around public holidays like Assumption of Mary (August 15th) or Christmas.
•Even in the 'low season' months like January and February, Athens is a vibrant city. The main tradeoff is the weather, which can be cool and wet, making outdoor exploration less appealing.
