Venice weekend

Venice remains an utterly unique city, a dreamscape of canals and ornate architecture best savored at a leisurely pace. Two days offers a perfect introduction to its magic, from the grandeur of St. Mark's Square to the intimate charm of quiet campi. The city's beauty is amplified by its pedestrian-only nature, encouraging delightful detours down narrow calli and across picturesque bridges. Beyond the iconic sights, explore the artisan workshops of Dorsoduro or soak in the local atmosphere of Cannaregio. For a weekend, staying in Dorsoduro offers a blend of artistic flair and authentic Venetian life, away from the busiest crowds. Alternatively, Cannaregio provides a more residential feel with excellent bacari (wine bars) and a genuine sense of community. A crucial tip for day visitors: be aware of the Venetian access fee. If you're not staying overnight in Venice, you must register and pay the fee online in advance for peak days between April and July to avoid substantial fines. Overnight guests are exempt.
