Destination-specific money tips

  • While cards are common in Yerevan, always have some AMD cash for smaller shops, markets, and rural areas.
  • ATMs are widely available and generally offer good exchange rates. Avoid standalone ATMs in very remote locations if possible.
  • Tipping is appreciated but not always expected. For good service in restaurants, 5-10% is customary. Taxi drivers don't typically expect tips.
  • Armenian brandy and wine are excellent and relatively inexpensive, making them great souvenirs.
  • Public transport within Yerevan is very affordable, but taxis (especially via apps) are also budget-friendly for short distances.
